Dr. Daniel Schatz is a political scientist, author, and international affairs expert. Fluent in six languages, he brings more than two decades of experience across government, international organizations, academia, journalism, and public relations.
Schatz holds a Doctorate in Political Science from the Humboldt University of Berlin. He has served as a Visiting Scholar at Harvard University’s Program on Transatlantic Relations, Stanford University's Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies, Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service and New York University’s Center for European and Mediterranean Studies. He was appointed as a non-resident Visiting Researcher at New America’s International Security Program, the Europe Forum at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Lund University’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies.
He is the author of the bestselling Swedish-language book Från Stockholm till Jerusalem: Den okända historien om Sveriges Mellanösternpolitik (Fri Tanke). Its forthcoming international edition, Sweden’s Relations with Israel and the Palestinians: An Untold History (Palgrave Macmillan), provides a comprehensive account of Sweden’s relations with Israel and the Palestinians, based on extensive archival research and more than 100 interviews with senior political and diplomatic figures.
Schatz’s writing and commentary on international affairs have appeared in leading US and international outlets, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, Newsweek, Foreign Policy, Commentary, Forbes, National Review, Die Welt, and The Jerusalem Post. Schatz has contributed to CNN, NBC News, and Fox News, served as an editorial writer at Svenska Dagbladet, one of Sweden’s leading newspapers, and published in peer-reviewed academic journals. He has briefed ministers, parliamentarians, and senior officials across Europe and in the United States.
Drawing on his background in politics, communications, and diplomacy, Schatz is a founding partner of Intelligent Consulting, which advises international organizations, foundations, nonprofits, governments, and multinational companies on geopolitical risk, government affairs, strategic communications, and public relations.
Schatz holds a Masters Degree in Political Science from the University of Lund and completed studies in International Relations at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and New York University. He speaks Swedish, English, Polish, German, Hebrew and Russian.
